John is CTO & Venture Partner at Sure Valley Ventures, where he leverages over two decades of experience in the software sector to identify and nurture cutting-edge AI and ML startups. With a background that spans startups, scale-ups, financial services, and enterprise software, John brings a unique perspective to the world of venture capital. At Sure Valley Ventures, he focuses on evaluating and implementing AI/ML technologies across portfolio companies, advising startups on AI-driven product development and roadmap strategies, and staying at the forefront of AI trends and their impact on various industries.

Before joining Sure Valley Ventures, John held key leadership positions in the tech industry. He served as CTO at a fintech startup, where he drove innovation in decentralised financial technologies. He was also a Distinguished Engineer at Red Hat, following the acquisition of FeedHenry, where he played a crucial role in advancing mobile and cloud technologies. Throughout his career, John has held diverse roles including software developer, system architect, engineering manager, scrum master and CTO.

John holds an MSc in Communication Software and a BSc in Applied Computing from Waterford Institute of Technology. He is certified as a Scrum Master and Product Owner by Scrum Alliance. Beyond his professional achievements, John is actively involved in nurturing the next generation of tech leaders as a mentor with the Techstars accelerator program, focusing on AI and emerging technologies.
